TDT

Summary

Terminal Deoxynucleotidyl Transferase (TdT) a nuclear cell protein whose detection therefore requires cells to be permeabilised for detection by flow cytometry. Expression is usual in acute lymphoblastic leukaemias, but TdT is also commonly also found in acute myeloid leukaemia so is not fully specific (Tdt is also strongly expressed by early regenerating B-lymphocytes (haematogones). Since expression of TdT is retricted to immature cells TdT expression can help distinguish between primative and mature B cells.
