Description
An early or late trophozoite form that is very elongated and extends close to, or entirely across, the diameter of the erythocyte
Species significance
This form is frequent in P.malariae and P.knowlesi and will indicate that diagnosis - although other features must fit. More rarely forms resembling a band may occur in other species.
