A helpful molecule in the confirmation of ALL, CD24 may contribute to assigning B-lineage in difficult cases

Usage

CD24 is a GPI-linked protein that is expressed on the surface of dendritic cells, most B lymphocytes and binds to an unknown ligand on T lymphocytes. CD24 is also on myelocytes and neutrophils (but not monocytes).

  • The marker is helpful in difficult cases of ALL or MPAL since it is generally expressed on most cases of B-ALL
  • CD24 may be absent from pro-B ALL and occasionally from other cases
